Textbook Recap

I figured out a different way to link to them with a picture. I would recommend pretty much all of them.    If you have any questions, feel free to comment or email me :)

Thanks to everyone who voted for Fritz the Leopard.  He got 3rd place.  Next year, we'll try harder.

  1. You are just the person I need to ask; I am currently considering purhasing Pattern making for Fashion Design. A bit hesitatant because of the cost. I know you recommended it - do you think I will benefit from it.

  2. I highly recommend the book. There are a few negatives though. I think it is a little wordy, sometimes poorly edited, and I have found some pictures are messed up, but overall, the book is very good. An experienced sewer like yourself would have no problem with the book. I think you would easily find the problems with the book and navigate around them. I think you would find it beneficial, especially if you want to modify commercial sewing patterns that fit you. Like changing sleeve shapes, or moving darts around. The section on contouring is very good. It explains how to fit patterns to the body better, something the BIG 4 has problems with IMO, ie neckline gaposis. Right now it is on sale on Amazon for $78.00 and free shipping. Also, the 4th ed. is basically the same as the 5th. It may be less expensive. The only difference is that the illustrations are drawn in a different color. If you are hesitant, try to find it at a library, or buy it and return it if you don't like it :)

    Good luck!
